PURPOSE OF PROSPERITY

Text: 2Corinthians 9.8

8  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Proverbs 10.22  The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Psa 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

The word "prosperity" has been abused in our environment.

This however does not nullify the fact that prosperity is God's will and agenda just as the fact that there is fake N500 in circulation does not mean that we should no longer spend N500.

*Prosperity is the will of God*

We must also understand what prosperity is not.

It is not mere accumulation of things.....materialism
It is not get rich quick scheme......greed and covetousness
It is not get rich by hook and crook

*#1. Prosperity is having enough resources to finance God's agenda.*

2Corinthians 9.8  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

1Ch 29:3 Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house

*#2. Prosperity is you having enough resources to live a life that commands respect and not be a burden to other people.*

1Thes 4.11,12
11  And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;  verse12 . That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

2Th 3:8 Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:

Eph 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

*#3. Prosperity is having enough resources to take care of your loved ones.*

1 Timothy 5.8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Gen 47:12 And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father's household, with bread, according to their families

*#4. Prosperity is having enough resources to fulfill your purpose.*

*#5. Prosperity is having enough resources to be a blessing to the world.*

Genesis 12.3 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

Acts 20. 35  I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

LIFE IS ABOUT FOLLOWING

LIFE IS ABOUT FOLLOWING Tayo Onaleye Psalm 63.8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. The Christian life is a journey with the Master. It's about following Him, His agenda and pattern. 1. FOLLOW JESUS Mat 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He's the Bishop of your soul and the Great Shepherd.  He's the No.1 person to follow. We follow Jesus by following the leading of the Holy Spirit in us and the Word of God. The first calling of the disciple is not to preach but to follow. Mark 3.14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, 2. FOLLOW YOUR LEADER Don't hang around a leader you refuse to follow. Mat 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. You can't help the the fellow who refuses to follow. Hebrews 13.17 Obey them that have t...
