The Father's business

*Topic:  THE FATHER'S BUSINESS*

Text: Luke 2. 48, 49

 48  And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

 49  And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? *wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?*

Like Jesus, we must all be involved in and committed to the business of our Father in heaven.

Our Father's business includes.....

*1. Soul winning*

Luk 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

John 3.16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Be involved in bringing the unsaved unto Jesus.

*2. Discipleship*

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 

Be involved in developing believers into maturity in Christ.

*3. Nourishing the saints*

Heb 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to thesaints, and do minister

1Co 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 

Romans 12.4-8

Be involved in ministering to the saints.

*4. Taking care of the underprivileged*

Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world

Pro 28:27 He that giveth unto the poor shall notlack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse. 

Pro 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Be involved in helping the helpless.

*5. Destroying the works of the devil*

1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Luke 9

 1  Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

 2  And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

Mark 16.
 17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

 18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

*6. Good works*

Acts 10.38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Act 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and toremember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Let us all be involved in our Father's business like Jesus.
