THE BOOK OF FIRST KINGS
TOPIC: RESOLVING BROTHERLY CONFLICTS
TEXT: 1Kings 12.24
24 Thus saith the LORD, *Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel:*..........
In school they taught us the basic characteristics of living things.....
Movement. Respiration. Nutrition. Irritability. Growth. Excretion. Reproduction.
I would like to add one more:
*CONFLICTS!*
Where two or more are gathered there's bound to be differences which can develop into disagreements that can further deteriorate into conflicts.
Disagreements are bound to happen but whether we allow them to deteriorate into conflicts and how well we resolve such conflicts when they happen are real tests of love and leadership.
So how do we resolve conflicts among the brethren?
There's a basic *kingdom mindset* we must have on this issue and the mindset is this: *Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren.....*
Has someone hurt you in the church?
*Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren.....*
Has someone slandered you in the fellowship?
*Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren.....*
Has someone you hold in high esteem disappointed and let you down?
*Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren.....*
Don't fight.
Don't make trouble.
Tow the path of peace.
Take the matter to church leadership but don't fight.
Don't drag a fellow believer to police station. (1Cor 6.1-7)
Does that not make you a fool?
Yes it does.
It makes you a fool for Jesus.
1Co 4:10 We are fools for Christ's sake......
That you refuse to pick a fight doesn't mean you're "dense" and cannot fight.
It only means that you choose to elevate Jesus above your opinion and natural tendency.
Meekness is not weakness. It is strength under control.
*Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren.....*
God bless you
