Don't be a people pleaser

Topic: DON'T BE A PEOPLE-PLEASER
Text: Luke 6. 6-11

6  And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.

7  And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

8  But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

9  Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

10  And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

*11  And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.*

Jesus had just healed a person who had a deformity but the Pharisees got mad at him.

Healing a deformed person was one of the best things anyone could do for another human being but yet some other people got mad over it.

If Jesus was a people-pleaser He would have restrained from healing the sick man.

Lessons:

1. No matter what you do some people will get mad at you.

Your mission in life is not to please everybody but to fulfill your purpose and please God.

Don't try to please everybody. The surest way to fail in life is to try to please everybody.

Focus on pleasing God.

No matter what you do some people will just not like you for no reason. Don't develop headache because of that.

Live your life in sincerity and a good conscience and leave the rest to God.

2. You have no control over people's opinion about you. There's nothing you can do about people passing comments about you. Don't get worried about it.

What people think about you is their opinion. It may be correct or incorrect.

Negative criticism is personal opinion harshly expressed.

3. The opinion of other people about you matters particularly authority figures over your life and those closest to you. The opinion of your boss or customers matters. Take it serious. It is arrogance to say that you don't care what other people think about you. It may cost you your job or business.

4. When someone criticizes you don't take it personal. See it as feed back and ask yourself the question: Is it true? If it's true then make effort to improve and change. If it's not true simply thank them and remain focused on your mission.

5. Don't let those who get mad at you hold you back from fulfilling your purpose. Inspite of the madness of the Pharisees Jesus still went ahead healing the sick. Don't let opposition cage you. Don't let criticism paralyse you.

PUT ONLY RUNNERS ON YOUR TEAM

PUT ONLY RUNNERS ON YOUR TEAM Tayo Onaleye John 20.1-4 Team building is a major function of leadership. And broadly speaking, there can just be only two types of people on any team: those who are running with the vision and those who are not. It takes running to actualize any vision. Hab 2:2 And the LORD answered me, and said,Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.  Only those who are running with the vision will help actualize it. Those on the team who are not running with the vision will eventually ground it. Mat 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Running with the vision symbolises PASSION. Hence only those who are passionate about the vision will actually pay the price to see it materialise. Every vision faces challenges. Only those who are passionate about the vision will stick with it for the long haul. Those who are not passionate about the vision ...
